Travel funding available for sports teams

The 2010 SPARC Rural Travel Fund is now open for sports teams throughout the district to apply for funding help for their regional travel expenses. 

This fund is open to Taupo District sports clubs and school sports teams that require assistance with the cost of transporting teams to local sporting competitions.  Team members must be aged between 5 and 19 years. 

Taupo District Council Community Development Manager Carole Parker says it is a great opportunity that sports teams should not miss out on.  “Travelling to away games can be an expensive process for any team, and it is a shame when kids miss out because they can’t afford to travel.  So get your applications in now.”  

Applications forms are available from Taupo District Council offices in Taupo, Turangi and Mangakino.  Applications close at 4.00pm Friday 19 February 2010.
