Temporary speed humps on Invergarry Rd
MEDIA RELEASE
7 October 2009
Following concern expressed by residents about heavy vehicles and speeding traffic in the Invergarry Road area, temporary speed humps have been installed
Residents are concerned about heavy vehicles using the narrow streets in and around the Invergarry Rd, McDonnell and Arthur Cres areas in Taupo. Of particular concern is the fact that the heavy vehicles are not able to safely turn in or out of Invergarry Rd with many crossing the centerline of the road and causing near miss incidents.
The humps will discourage heavy vehicles and will also help to slow traffic which has started to use the street as a quick way to avoid the detour route in place in the area.
There have been some complaints that the humps are too severe so their size is being adjusted to make them more acceptable for general traffic use.
The speed humps will be removed with the completion of the partial reconnection of Crown Rd with SH 5 Napier Rd.
