Our Neighbourhood event coming to Richmond Heights
MEDIA RELEASE
8 January 2009
The second Our Neighbourhood event for this summer is scheduled to be held at the Parkdale Reserve in Richmond Heights next Friday 15 Jan, and Taupo District Council hope for a huge turnout.
The Our Neighbourhood series of events carry through the neighbourhood theme that developed during the council and community ten year plan process. The events are designed to get neighbours together and encourage a sense of pride in our communities. The event will start at 5pm and will feature the usual games, giveaways, live music, and a free BBQ courtesy of Taupo District Council and the Our Neighbourhood community partners.
More than 300 locals turned up for the Mere Rd Our Neighbourhood event late last year, and enjoyed fun and games, including a bouncy castles, lolly scrambles, live music, and a of course a free BBQ. Strategic Relationships Manager and event organiser Dylan Tahau of Taupo District Council says the event was a lot of fun. “The people of Mere Rd have set a high standard which should be a challenge to the Richmond Heights community to get along and take part.”
Turangi will also be having its first Our Neighbourhood event the following day. Taupo District Council has decided to join forces with the Turangi SPCA’s ‘Dogs R Fun’ day at Taupahi Reserve on Saturday 16 January, inviting the whole community to join in on the fun and activities.
Mr Tahau wishes to thank event partners Neighbourhood Support, More FM, Sport Waikato, Life Education Trust, and sponsors Taupo Tourism Holdings and Hirepool for helping to make these events happen.
More FM will advise on the day if the event is to be postponed.
