Come for a chat about the water supply bylaw

Council is hosting some question and answer sessions in Taupo, Turangi and Mangakino to provide residents with an opportunity to enquire and provide feedback on the draft water supply bylaw currently out for public consultation.

The sessions are being held:
Thursday 7 May, 12.00 – 2.00pm: Taupo Library
Monday 11 May, 12.00 – 2.00pm: Mangakino Council Office
Tuesday 12 May, 12.00 – 2.00pm: Turangi Library

The water supply bylaw addresses the issues associated with the terms and conditions of supply of water and the protection of the water supply system for ratepayers and residents of the Taupo District.  The new bylaw replaces the existing bylaw which has been in place since 1976.  The main changes for the public to consider include how Council should protect the health of its water supply, how Council can guard against illegal connections to protect water supply and the ability for Council to apply penalties for excessive or wasteful water use.

To find out more about the question and answer sessions, to view the draft bylaw or to make a submission go to www.taupo.govt.nz or phone Council on 07 376 0899.  Submissions on the draft bylaw close at 5.00pm on Friday 29 May.
