Lake Taupo Erosion and Flood Strategy
Taupo District Council and Environment Waikato have developed a joint Strategy that will guide management of the erosion and flood risk around the Lake Taupo foreshore. As part of the process the Councils commissioned technical scientific reports to determine the likely causes and the extent of the risks. Feedback was sought from interest groups and the wider community.
Following deliberations by a joint committee, the strategy was adopted by Taupo District Council on 8 December 2009 and by Environment Waikato on 10 December 2009. The strategy sets out roles and responsibilities, recommend actions along with timeframes and costs.
