Commercial Events Policy

This Policy is intended to provide a clear picture of how the Council intends to enhance the sustainability of key events, protect the Districts reputation and the economic benefits of the event industry.

It is the intention of Council through this policy to:

• create a positive and encouraging environment for the district’s event industry;
• ensure the local community are aware of the value of these events and their importance as hosts to national and international visitors;
• minimise adverse impacts on infrastructure, residents and businesses by ensuring well organised and managed events
• ensure that event organisers work effectively with emergency services, such as the Police and St John’s;
• support and encourage event organisers to achieve and maintain events of exceptional quality, particularly in the areas of safety and event experience;
• work in partnership with national and international bodies to protect and enhance the reputation of specific events.
