Code of Practice-Development of Land
The Code of Practice is a set of standards that builders, developers, contractors and consultants must comply with in order to keep a consistent level of standards on all construction projects, and covers everything from wastewater to roading. It ensures that any assets transferred to Council are done right first time, and are not a burden on ratepayers. They must be good quality, be of good urban design, and fit for their purpose, i.e. “up to code”.
The revised Taupo Code of Practice was adopted 29 September 2009 with a new code that is more focused on objectives and performance than on strict rules and compliance. This will allow for more flexibility and innovation. It will allow contractors to improve on current standards by finding innovative ways to achieve results.
