The Southern Emergency Operations Area (SEOA) consists of two Local Authorities (Taupo and South Waikato). The SEOA is a combined district in civil defence terms and is administered by the Taupo District Council. This plan is part of the transitional arrangements for the Waikato Region Civil Defence and Emergency Management Group (CDEMG). All SEOA councils are members of the Waikato CDEMG and are committed to comprehensive emergency management, enabling people and organisations to prepare for, respond to, and recover from mass
emergencies and disasters. As the administering authority Taupo District Council has commenced all-hazards, allagencies programme that promotes hazard/risk reduction, emergency readiness, response co-ordination and community recovery.
